LOTC – Zac Posen for Target

March 4, 2010

Yikes have I been amiss or what on my Luxing it on the Cheap features.  Apologies, I’ll get back on track with chic and cheap finds – promise!

So much has been said about Zac Posen – an arrogant, somewhat eccentric Boy Wonder.  Well who wouldn’t be if he jumped into the fashion elite and started his own line at 21?  I was just happy to have a paycheck then!  I’ve always admired his eye for clothing that really drapes well on and looks great on ladies.
Just look at his amazing gowns as worn by Tina Fey and Beyonce.

But people aren’t lining up to spend $20,000 on a dress in this economic climate.  So it’s a good thing for him and us that not only did he launch a lower priced line at Saks (first mentioned here) he’ll be launching a collection at Target on April 25 (and he apparently really needs some help according to the NY Times).  While there are no red carpet gowns, there are quite a few fun pieces and all my picks are less than $80.  I find the Target collaborations to be hit or miss (a bit saddened by the Rodarte collection) but you be the judge and check it out in the spring.
Brocade Tie dress in floral print – $74.99. Love that bow and I’d rock it in the spring!
Something about this halter dress in black gold says 80s chic to me.  I’m intrigued and it’s only $49.99.
The two piece ruffled dress is so freaking fun.  At $79.99, it’s a pretty great prom/cocktail dress option.
This gown in safety pin print (really fun maxi to me) is pretty tropical chic and only $69.99.
I’m intrigued by this pleated tie top – one piece, two pieces?  I want to check it out in store and it’s only $34.99.
Finally, I’m all over this tuxedo jacket if the quality is decent.  $49.99 is a pretty great deal for a classic piece like this.
What do you think of the collection?  Will you get anything?

I usually either love or hate the Target collaborations too. Its funny because sometimes I feel like the clothes Target already has are cuter than what the designers are putting out for a lot more money with these unions.

I really do love that red dress though. It’s very sexy and fun. I could picture wearing it to a cocktail party, should I ever be invited to one. Lol.

I also wanted to thank you for the very sweet and supportive comment you left on my blog the other day. It means a lot to know there are people out there who care about me even if they have never met me. 🙂

Oh, and I’m following you now!

I love the collection; but honestly…why does it have to be so expensive?! It’s Target, not Nordstrom!! :/

so excited to hear about this collaboration – will definitely have to check it out! Have a great weekend girl!

His regular prices weren’t ultra-ultra-high….not in the couture range, for sure. After reading that NY Times profile of him, I think his business was affected by a lot more than the economy. For a start, maybe he should consider not having his mommy working as his CEO, hmmm?

Not sure how well those price points are going to work at Target, although some of the pieces are just lovely!

  • Jessica March 10, 2010 at 03:10

The price points are so high for this collection! I hope they at least improve the quality to justify the price tag.
