Does fashion need a face? Patrizia Pepe

August 19, 2010

Who needs models anyway (or at least famous ones)?

I was intrigued by the ad campaign for Patrizia Pepe, an Italian fashion house,  The clothing is gorgeous and all of the models cover their faces with sometimes mundane and sometimes unusual objects.

There are so many ways to interpret this though at the end, you should wear the clothes and as gorgeous as it is, don’t let the clothing wear you (I remember hearing that a lot about wedding gowns and was so touched when our reverend said my dress fit my style perfectly!)

Interesting ads from a fashion brand.  What do you think of this campaign?

I kind of am in love with these!! although it’s a tiny bit distracting – but ALSO definitely makes you check out the clothes more to see who in the world is doing this 🙂

I think this campaign is so great! Unique and visually interesting. That’s so sweet that the reverend went out of his way to compliment your personal style and great taste 🙂

I think the idea of letting the clothes speak for themselves is a good one.

Its quite weird but I like it. Normally I look at models’ faces (and try to ignore pangs of jealousy at their annoying beauty) and with their faces hidden you do look at their clothes more. Maybe it will catch on and anyone can be a model!

This is so intriguing – I am liking this ad idea!!

Wow, the one with the french horn is a lovely photo. I love the perspective. Visually I think they are really interesting and beautiful.

I’m not sure about the message though, do you think they are trying to convey that anyone can be the face of Patrizia? Because to me the clothes still aren’t being worn by completely anonymous people. I can still tell that the person is a model with a slim, tall figure with fair colored skin.

Love it! I think it definitely highlights the clothes! I think I got some of her stuff at Daffy’s one time, believe it or not! XX!
