Yep, a few Hermès scarves now reside in my closet.
I told my husband I wanted to get my mom a Hermès scarf for Mother’s Day. She has some of the most beautiful scarves and it has always been a staple wardrobe piece for her. But I wanted to get her the ultimate scarf: an Hermès scarf. In the process of oohing and ahhing over scarves for her, I accumulated a few for myself.
Hermès scarves are known for their craftsmanship. Raw silk is converted directly into silk yarn and spun into fabric twice as strong as other silk scarves (at its inception in 1937). New designs are individually screen printed and up to 40 colors can be selected from a range of 200,000 colors. The vibrant colors and vivid designs of these scarves can be pretty amazing.
I also love versatile pieces and when I saw that I could wear an Hermès scarf as a headscarf, top, or belt (instructions here), I was sold. Savvy also recently posted DIY scarf as a hat instructions and the Glamourai also posted a scarf dress here.
I also view these as pieces of artwork and am looking into getting a few framed some day (ahh and Apartment Therapy thinks it’s a good idea too!)
They retail for $375 and up (for the 90 cm/35″ square size), but of course I never paid that. I got a few through the Market place at Purse Forum (you have to apply to be a member) and a few on eBay. I always looked for 100% seller feedback, hand-rolled hems, good condition, and the presence of the caretag (though “Quai Aux Fleures” doesn’t come with atag, I loved it too much to care).
This is the scarf I eventually ended up getting my mom: a mousseline (semi-sheer)
Here are my scarves “Quai aux les fleures” and “Au Coeur de la vie” (yes the same as the one I got my mom but in a different colorway!). I affectionately refer to them as white lady-like scarf with carriage and tropical Jimmy Buffet. ♡

Love them! When my mother-in-law was going through chemo last year, her co-workers and friends had a scarf shower for her. She received several beautiful Hermes scarves and it was so thoughtful of her friends to give them and to give her an extra boost of confidence during that rough time.
Those are BEAUTIFUL. Ahhh one day I will own a Hermès scarf. I have several scarves at home that I like to wear but nothing that can compare to those!

How exciting! They’re so gorgeous! I have a bunch of scarves as well but not a Hermes. YET 🙂 I’ve always loved them but brought a bunch a few years ago when my friend was battling breast cancer. We would go scarf shopping together. I’ve since inherited her scarves too. I like having them because they remind me of her.

These are very pretty scarves! Sad to say I don’t have any scarves of my own, except for a beautiful warm rainbow striped scarf a friend gave me for Christmas.

Fabulous finds! I have a few in my closet, and two special ones that I have had framed, they look as great on a wall as they do in an outfit!
i just pulled out all my grandmothers scarves and have started wearing them as headbands or twistign into a necklace. so fun!! only wish i had saved more of them!

They are so so chic! I don’t own any Hermes scarves sadly but I do have scarves and I like them with a trench, tied at the neck. I do have a pair of Hermes shoes and every time I see the orange box in the cupboard my heart jumps a little!

Everyone needs to splurge a little on themselves every now and then! And when you have a piece like this you can pair it with discount pants and a tee and still look incredible! My husband got me the H belt for Valentines Day this year and I LOVE it! It ups the chic factor of almost any outfit!
