Worth it? Missoni for Bugaboo

August 25, 2011
Missoni’s iconic prints have been everywhere lately (or will be after the Missoni for Target launch!) and now they’re also on baby strollers. Β This edgy Italian fashion house has teamed up with the ultimate name in carriages to launch Missoni for Bugaboo strollers. Β
Bugaboo is a brand that I have frequently seen around NYC – these modern carriages are supposed to be safe and somewhat light as well. Β However, they have always been priced for the financial services crowd (do people really spend that much on a stroller?!) Β Sure it’s lightweight, allows for multiple positions, and allows for a one piece fold, but I’ve wondered whether the price is worth the cost. Β Then again, would you put a limit on how much you would spend on a useful mode of transport for your baby? The addition of a versatile print and Missoni blanket (which of course could be put to other uses!) certainly make this a unique and unexpected carriage!

Is this stylish stroller worth it?

if i’m not mistaken this bugaboo and missoni venture is more affordable then a normal bugaboo haha.

but i want a bugaboo for sure when i have babies.. i have a lot of girlfriends that have young kids and they said that the bugaboo is really awesome in the sense that it’s longlasting.. before they got a bugaboo they cheaped out and got a cheaper stroller.. and ended up having to replace it within a year! isn’t that the same argument with a designer vs. non designer handbag haha.

Ouch!$600 is not exactly cheap but I can’t deny that it is very stylish and cute!

i love the colors and pattern. not sure if i’d buy it because of the price, but would love to have it anyway.

  • Leia August 25, 2011 at 09:45

here’s the rundown on a Bugaboo – they DO NOT collapase – so they are made for people who live in the city like NYC or Hoboken – the main cost is the Bugaboo the Missoni u buy as an add on and it’s NOT that much – the u pictured is the Bee – that’s the design i want – but my Niece has the Camilion, which i’m not crazy over the print — SO if u plan on packing this lovey in ur car, NOT happening – but if u like to walk around ur neighborhood then PERFECT!

No babies yet for me, so it’s hard to say – it’s definitely cute, but if it’s not collapsible, I’m not sure if it would be worth it, since you would have to get another one that could go in the car. It’s certainly stylish though!

Hmmm $600 for the stroller itself and then another $200 for the accessories… I don’t have kids but if I did, you better believe I’d either have this one or the Burberry stroller. Let’s just put it this way..if momma was in style b4 she had kids..she WILL be in style after! Oh yeah and I better get atleast a Gucci diaper bag…none of those little teddy-bear things..ugh!

  • Heather August 25, 2011 at 15:06

It looks great, but probably not worth the price in my opinion. I think it would probably be easy to find something that’s also stylish for less!

  • BigAppleNosh August 25, 2011 at 15:27

Hmm, seems kinda steep – then again I don’t have kids so my frame of reference is limited!

  • Tara @ Haute Lunch August 25, 2011 at 15:27

Uh…yeah. So I don’t have kids, but if I did, they certainly wouldn’t be riding around in Missoni. I don’t really see the point in spending so much on children’s items that you won’t use for very long, and the kids certainly wouldn’t appreciate it. Plus, I never had expensive things until I was much older, which I believe is why I cherish them so much and take such great care of them. If I ever do have kids, they won’t be getting high end goods until they are in their 20s. πŸ™‚

wow, not exactly the cheapest stroller on the block. I guess we all have our things we splurge on though πŸ™‚ It’s pretty fun looking!

So cute and stylish for little ones. I would NEVER spend that kind of money on a stroller though. If someone bought it for me though… πŸ™‚

  • Bonnie August 25, 2011 at 17:51

This stroller is totally adorable!! Since I am never having kids, I could put my fur babies in this and wheel them around.

I don’t have children nor do I want any BUT I have three nieces….I would have to say it’s a pass on a $800 stroller…just think…your little one is going to get messy and have accidents…of all sorts…wouldn’t you rather just think awe poor baby than OMG!!! not on the $800 stroller!

  • THE ALTERNATIVE WIFE August 25, 2011 at 21:35

I would definitely consider it! I’m always weak for Missoni πŸ™‚

  • Imke August 25, 2011 at 22:37

Awh, looks so cute πŸ˜€ Don’t know if it’sworth it, I’m too young to think about that, haha ^^

ahh the designer stroller. We see lots of those around town and I have heard the Bugaboo is among the top of wish lists for soon to be mommies. Getting a Missoni one seems just a bit pretentious but then again, if you’re a baller (or your hubby is), the money spent on it is chump change.

  • Louise August 26, 2011 at 01:29

GAH! I say Missioni FAIL on this one. I generally am a fan, but I think this is hideous!

  • Savvy Gal August 26, 2011 at 02:15

it is very bright and different from the usual baby stroller. : )

  • Anna of IHOD August 26, 2011 at 03:10

I personally wouldn’t drop the dough for it but I would high five anyone who owned it:) Its awesome!

  • Kavery August 26, 2011 at 03:40

Missoni is all over the place. First Target now Bugaboo

  • Alyson August 26, 2011 at 13:37

awesome, but not worth the price, and almost feel like it would be a lot to look at every day, all the time.

As someone currently stroller shopping with number2 on the way I’m going to have to say: NO WAY! I’m a stay at home mom and there is no way I’m spending that much on a stroller – kids are expensive enough without the designer accessories!

  • Carly August 26, 2011 at 20:44

this stroller is RIDICULOUSLY awesome…as far as strollers go, hahaha.
I actually am one of the people who has the overpriced bugaboo..just fell in the love with the design..and when you are a “shopper” and can’t really shop due to pregnancy..you end up focusing your shopping energy to baby stuff….I do love the stroller BUT it wasn’t necessarily worth the extra dough…another could have done the trick for alot less.
PS Can’t wait for that Missoni collab at Target..counting down days. First time stopping in..definitely following along now!
