Jenny from the block has created a line of affordable apparel with just a bit of flair in her Jennifer Lopez collection for Kohl’s. I hadn’t heard of Kohl’s until a few years ago when it entered NYC and was never that enthusiastic about celebrity fashion collections. But one should never judge a book by its leopard print cover. After all who would have guessed that the Full House twins would end up being respected designers of the Row? So I was certainly willing to look at J. Lo’s collection here.She has an array of basic styles that cover the classics (see the white sheath dress below which reminds me of a Milly dress I already own) to the slightly edgier (see the prints on the tunics, some which look better than others) to the blatantly glamorous (I gotta admit that the gold, sequin top is kinda fabulous). There is nothing in this collection that changes the face of fashion. But it does have a few work-worthy pieces/weekend worthy pieces at manageable price points. I’d certainly consider a top or dress from this collection and give this Bronx babe a chance (I wasn’t as impressed with her accessories and jewelry though).Here are a few favorite pieces:

I really like that sheath dress! I am also a bit hesitant when it comes to celebrity fashion collections, but the Full House twins and Gwen Stefani (L.A.M.B.) are two examples of how it can go very well. Of course, the pieces from those collections are pretty pricey, whereas Kohl’s fashion needs to have a lower price point. I’m not surprised that the pieces in this collection are relatively “safe” fashion statements. They are really fun, though!

I’m always hesitant to purchase anything that are designed by celebrities. I have to agree that the Olsen twins and Victoria Beckham have done remarkably well.

I actually like that gold sequins top and J.Lo did model the white dress in her campaign. We don’t have a kohl’s in downtown chicago, you have to go to the suburbs or into the neighborhoods, I gotta see this before I buy it!

I’m pleasantly surprised by this collection! Unfortunately, I don’t have a Kohl’s nearby. I would totally buy something online since those discount codes are so great, but i’m concerned about the sizing… you never know with a new brand how things will fit!

These pieces look great in the photos, but my sister saw them in person and said they look super cheap. I’m a little disappointed. 🙁
