{Fashion} Highlight: Pink October/Breast Cancer Awareness Shopping ideas

October 20, 2011
I am the quintessential girl and have always loved pink.  October is all about the pink and the month is dedicated to breast cancer awareness.  Many designers and retailers are also partnering with the cause and creating special items whose proceeds will be donated to a related charity.  I love shopping for a cause (it justifies the spending as well right?)  Breast cancer is also something that many of us may not consider, but should be aware of and help combat.
Here are a few favorite picks if you are looking for something pink this month:

1. Breast Cancer Awareness Shoe, Milk & Honey, $285 (100% of profits)
2. Lauren Merkin Reusable tote, Lauren Merkin, $20 (50% of proceeds)
3. BCRF Scarf, Coach, $68 (20% of proceeds)
4. Full of Hope Charm Bracelet, Lily Pulitzer, $48
5. OPI Pink of hearts shatter edition, OPI, $8.50 (set overall donation)
6.Tweezerman tweezers, Bloomingdale’s, $20
8. Robert Siegel Handmade Berry Bowl, Robert Siegel Handmade, $75 (20% of proceeds)
little luxury list

  • Jessica Caneal October 22, 2011 at 13:45

I am all for shopping for a cause. However, most of the pink products out there do little or nothing to help women with breast cancer. In most cases, they are just ways for the companies involved to turn a bigger profit. Here is some info: http://girliegirlarmy.com/blog/20111011/beware-pinkwashing/

Use this page as a guide for how you can actually help women with breast cancer: https://www.facebook.com/BCAction

It is so important that we stay involved and purchase responsibly. It would be wonderful if everyone could act together to help women prevent breast cancer in the first place!
