Fashion Highlight: Color Blocking Craze by BCBG Max Azria Autumn/Winter 2012 (with some year round looks)

March 29, 2012
Is color blocking just a trend?

Well think again because when a collection like BCBG Max Azria is devoted almost entirely to color blocking, it is a fashion statement that will be around for a while longer.  I was fascinated that the colors and designs explored color blocking in many different combinations – it ranged from vertical and horizontal combinations in different neutral colors to a fun mix with different textures. The same color (white) paired with a sheer white to create a different textural view or a simple color blocked coat was mixed with fur sleeves for a modern spin on a retro look.  I thought that this was also a look that works for warmer as well as cooler weathers.

It is definitely a wearable and simple collection, but one that enables you to experience a new take on a familiar favorite.  I also love that BCBG is relatively affordable (watch those sales lovelies!) so many more of us can rock color blocked frocks.

So true, these looks are so wearable and suitable for every season..and its a softer more subtle take on colour blocking. Like!

Color blocking certainly does seem like it’s here to stay, doesn’t it? I love these dresses, and I NEED to try out color-blocking this season!

As cute as these are, I’m pretty sure I would get lost under all of the material. It would probably look better on someone taller than me.

A year ago when I started blogging, I hated this trend. It just seemed very dated to me…and the colours were so bright that I thought I’d go blind. Now…I love this trend! And I think it’s trend turned into a style that is here to stay!

I love this trend. can we call it a trend if it seems like it’s just a classic that is here to stay? I love how playful it is when you use colors and how abstract and utilitarian it can look if you do it in black and white. also, i love BCBG and I think I need that orange dress peeking out of that divine coat! and the coat too!!
