In {NYC}: Details in downtown NYC

July 11, 2012
I love being a visitor in my own city.  I really recommend breaking out of the routine and doing something out of the ordinary – talk a stroll down a different street, look at the details in a place you pass every day, or just pause and observe the people passing around you.

I try to get back to NYC every June because the weather is usually mild and the days are already a bit longer.  This is the first time I had my DSLR with me and it was fun to actually the normal details I never really noticed before.  I miss the details everywhere in NYC: beautiful moldings, plaques in the most unexpected places, and funky signs everywhere.

What are details you appreciate in your city?

I love all the finer detailing on your photos, especially of the beautiful lavender, I can almost reach out and touch it! The arches of the building are so clearly visible, amazing!

This post makes me miss NYC so much. I’ve only been there twice, but I loved it both times and am itching to go back. There are so many details to love about SF: the architecture is quirky and there are street vendors and farmers’ markets scattered all over downtown. The lavender looks amazing!

Beautiful pictures. I love so much about my city(s) – in Laguna it’s all the beach stuff going on, surf classes, paddle boarders, surf signs. Here in LA, I love the street vendors, the slightly slower pace, as the heat slows everything down.

You know, I’m starting to do that more too. Everybody’s city has something unique and magical about it. It’s amazing when you take a picture, you see details you didn’t notice before. Great pics!

    Aw fabulous photos 🙂

I definitely forget to stop and appreciate all that New York City has to offer. Today on my walk home I stopped and snapped an Instagram pic of Grand Central. The architecture is so beautiful. I’m going to try and make more of an effort!
