Rain is often associated with gloomy, dark days.

But these umbrellas in the town of Ãgueda in Portugal make me think of days beyond those dark clouds. I’m reminded of the rainbow in a faraway patch of clouds or the intense blue of a bright sky breaking away from the clouds on a perfect spring day.
Patricia Almeida photographed this cheery installation and it makes me long for a colorful canopy as well.

I don’t usually like umbrellas because I hate rain but these? They definitely provide an uplifting feeling.
