Photo Love {Inspiration}: The air of ideas via Keira Knightley for Vogue October 2012

October 15, 2012

Ah, good conversation – there’s nothing like it, is there? The air of ideas is the only air worth breathing.
Edith Wharton, The Age of Innocence

Vogue October 2012

Something about this photo shoot of Keira Knightley instantly reminded me of the luxurious outfits ladies wore over a century ago.  I instantly thought of the Bronte sisters and “The Age of Innocence”.  I read the novel many, many moons ago, but love the quote above.

I recently met up with a new friend here that was filled with ideas.  She is a driven and ambitious lady that formerly had a high powered role in financial services.  She left that job a few years ago when she moved here and subsequently gave birth to her son here.  She also decided to switch careers and started a company to produce luxurious textiles.  Most importantly, she said she wanted to create something of her own and not fall into the role of a complacent housewife (the number of expat housewives can be high here). When I met with her, she was flush with the excitement of other entrepreneurial ventures that could work here.  I contributed my own ideas and also became enthusiastic about possibly entering into a new business.

I have been thinking about doing something different professionally for some time.  I’m still not quite sure what that is, nor if I will do it full time.  But I do know that it helps to be around other people who are positive and excited about improving, changing, and doing something different.  I keep it light most of the time, but love to be reinvigorated by good conversation and good ideas.

Have any good conversations or good ideas excited you lately?

Have a lovely week!

Those are wonderful…adore those 🙂 And I think it’s a good thing to not become complacent in life and really go out and do what you want to do. I’m a house wife, but I have other things that I do as well & it’s a great outlet to not becoming stuck in a rut and bored. Happy Monday doll xx

I tend to have really good conversations during travelling, sometimes strangers can give you insight on what you’re going through. But, in general ye always keeping positive thinking people around you will do you well. When I saw these I thought she look exceptional, this editorial was definitely one of my favourites showcasing her. She’s stunning. Enjoy your week. xx/Madison

My Vogue just came in the mail today–can’t wait to have a quiet moment to read through it. I think it’s great you’re thinking about a change of career, to something that is of more interest to you–life is so short, I’m glad you’re thinking about it!
