Artisan Highlight/Decor Thoughts: Area Designed Environments Artist Designed Walls

November 13, 2012

What defines a room?

The decor and furniture of the room are the obvious answers, but the walls of a room or rather what adorns them are also key to a feel or mood of a room.  One may not notice the walls when there is nothing on them, but the walls really make a statement when they are spectacular and unique, like the wallpaper offerings from Area Designed Environments.  This studio feature and produces temporary and permanent wallpaper options from hand-picked artists around the globe (from the UK to Ithaca, NY – both places I know!)

I go through many beautiful images of home design and decor and ooh and ahh over the details.  But regardless of my color palette or the mood of a room, I definitely want to round it off with at least one beautiful wall that has been designed by an artist featured in Area.

There are only 5 area artists highlighted now from a few different areas and backgrounds.

Madeline Burton – Central NY based student and photographer/beautiful foliage designer

Michael Cina – MN based graphic designer with moody and beautiful prints

Claire Leina – Parisian artist with whimsical animal print tendencies

Sandra Dieckmann – Londoner with a bold sense of colors and designs incorporating animals

Sandra Suy – Barcelona oriented fashion illustrator

Which designs are your favorite (mine are the first and last!)?

I love the yellow flowers on the gray background. And the drawings of the chic women in the room with the shoes are amazing as well!

Madeline Burton is my favorite designer too. I’m amazed that she is still only a student and creates such wonderful, graphic prints.
