Fashion Inspiration/Hot under $100: Polka dot coats inspired by Solange Knowles

March 20, 2013

It is an undisputed fact that Solange Knowles has style.

Similar to Ashley Olsen whose fun yellow coat was featured recently, Solange has a megawatt celebrity sister but has carved out her own sartorial and professional path.  Solange’s outfits have a little bit of an urban, but practical edge.  She has a refined chic look that pairs well with her Madewell partnership and exhibits her Brooklyn cool fashion sense.

Solange’s Moschino coat is most similar to this M Missoni coat and it is harder to find it in a longer length.  But there are a few cute options in shorter lengths and most are under $100!

Here are a few savvy options inspired by this look:

Agreed! Both Knowles sisters have nice style, but I think Solange definitely has more wins than Bey, who sometimes looks cheesy, rather than classy.

Agreed MizzJ – Solange’s style is more under the radar, but still edgy. B always looks great, but sometimes the looks are a little too much and she sometimes seems like she’s trying too hard with the daisy dukes or glitzy outfits.

She has great style! I wasn’t always a fan, but in the past couple of years I’ve really grown to admire her style and taste. Very chic and modern.

Kim, I’m with you and became a bigger fan of Solange recently. She has nice, modern taste and have you seen some of her fun suits?

No kidding. She’s quite high fashion these days. Copying her big sis. The polka dots are cute though. I’m searching for a good polka dotted item.

As I’m short, the coat she was wearing would “wear me”, instead of the other way around… but I loved Olivia Moon’s jacket!

  • Blond Duck March 20, 2013 at 08:51

It’s kind of eerie how Beyonce and Solange and their mother are fashion gurus just like the Simpson family….

  • Kim March 20, 2013 at 09:44

I love polka dots and stripes this time of year! Wow, Solange’s legs are miles long, too. She always looks amazing.

I grew sick of Beyonce long ago, but Solange (and her music) has a special place in my heart. I love that she embraces her natural hair, that she seems to march to the beat of her own drum, and somehow manages to cast her own shadow outside of her sister (not an easy feat!).

    I love everything she wears!

    • Chic 'n Cheap Living March 21, 2013 at 02:18

Amber, totally agreed – Solange just does her own things, looks fabulous, and has great style!
