Photo Love {Inspiration}: Being Free via Drew Barrymore in US Harper’s Bazaar March 2013

I am no bird; and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will.

For some reason, I instantly thought of “freedom” when I saw these pictures of Drew Barrymore in Harper’s Bazaar.  She appears comfortable, carefree, and quietly confident in these simple pictures.  One may accuse Drew of having a little too much freedom in her rebellious and reckless days growing up.  But in the past few years, she has really seemed to settle down.  She started her own production company and really took charge of the work she wanted to create.  She also finally found her leading man, got married, and had a baby.

It seems that she is free because she may have finally found herself after all these years.  Perhaps she was really able to find her own pace and herself because she had already experienced the rebellious freedom of a darker side of a childhood in the limelight.  It goes to show that freedom doesn’t necessarily have to be about grand acts of defiance.  It could also be about the comfort of finding yourself and being comfortable in your own skin.

So do you feel free?

Have a lovely week!

This is the best Drew has looked in recent years, I think you’re right, maybe one does have to go through certain life experiences to eventually reflect upon them, move past and find themselves.

I’d never seen that Bronte quote before, but really really like it. And I agree, it fits this shoot perfectly. I’ve always really liked Drew Barrymore, she always comes across as being so much more unique and fun than most actresses, fab images!!
