FFF – J. Crew polka dot love (discount too!) and art filled strolls

June 28, 2013

Happy Fun, Free Friday lovelies!

Polka dot love
I was browsing through this month’s J. Crew looks (I started looking through this section last week and adore the styling!) and fell in love with a few polka dotted pieces.  This is a pattern that always draws me back in – I think I’m over it and end up coming back to it after a while.  It’s cute, but still finds a way to be interesting in different cuts and proportions. So yes, polka dots can be worn by women over 14!

This polka dot jacquard pencil skirt is a fun twist on a classic piece.

Otherwise, this weekend I am…

…getting a personal tour of an exhibit of Picasso sketches.  Fancy eh?  Apparently, an alumnus is the coordinator at a museum housing this exhibit and kindly offered to give a tour to alumni in the area.  I thought it would be a nice chance to both see the exhibit and hear a detailed explanation from an expert (usually I just breeze through exhibits at my own pace and may or may not know the significance of a piece).  It goes to show that it’s all about who you know right?

What are you doing this weekend?

Have a fabulous weekend!

Stacey, I thought the same thing – what a gorgeous model! Happy weekend to you dear!

I think the key to wearing polka dots is keeping the shape of the item simple. A frilly dress looks too young, but a sleek shift is perfect. (Although whenever I wear polka dots, Dave says I look like Minnie Mouse!)

    • Chic 'n Cheap Living July 1, 2013 at 00:08

Well said Jessica! I do like a simple silhouette as well with a polka dot print. That sleek shift is really cool. Aww, I bet you don’t look like Minnie Mouse and at least she is adorable if you do have similar outfits!
