FFF/Fun Finds – Historic home makeovers and grilling season

August 23, 2013

Happy Fun, Free, Friday lovelies!

Fun Finds

I was struck by a few pictures of this 19th century home in Germantown, PA. The owner bought the home for only $125,000 but spent another $400,000 over two years to renovate it (p.s. I would LOVE to pay that price in NY or Singapore!)  While some aspects of the house itself are certainly grand, like the wraparound porch and the stained glass accented door, I also loved the modern additions like the wall with the strie effect.  It goes to show that one impact piece in a room can really set the tone for it.  A lot of love and care can also completely transform a space (the home was sitting neglected for several decades).

Otherwise this weekend I am…

…going to a BBQ thrown by our friend who helped us with the grilling last weekend.  My husband isn’t one of those guys who loves to grill so it was SUPER helpful when our friend offered to do all the grilling last weekend.  He makes great burgers so I’m definitely looking forward to some good food!

What are you doing this weekend?

Have a fabulous weekend!

A home like this for $125K would be totally unreal in NY but I’d happily pay it 🙂
