CnC Living Travel Log: A French Château wedding at Château de Condé

November 6, 2013

Every wedding is special.

After all, your friends or family are celebrating a milestone in their lives and have asked you to witness their union.  Whether it is in city hall or in a backyard or a ballroom, it is a special event.

I spent a nice, laid back weekend with a few grad school friends to attend a friend’s wedding.  There were too many croissants and lots of good times (isn’t this mama’s dress super chic?)

Oh Vera…swoon…

It was really lovely to spend time in the storied Château de Condé. The castle itself was first built in the 12th century by the family Coucy or the Lord of Condé, though like many owners of ancient buildings, the walls, chimneys, and gatehouses were added on in subsequent centuries.  Not all families come out on the winning side during wars though and the castle passed to Jean-François Leriget, Marquis de la Faye after the Franco Prussian war; he added more of the recent external and interior design elements present today.

This more modern Moroccan style lounge was perfect for a casual meal.

This wine cellar was amazing! A good wine cellar is timeless!

But of course many couples, including my friends (and Halle Berry!!!), simply love the rustic chic look of the place and the wonderful indoor and outdoor areas.   The Château was about 90 minutes outside Paris (traffic!) but a really lovely site for a wedding and a peek into the French countryside.

Psst, dessert buffets are dangerous but so delicious.

The location they chose was exquisite! Such a great looking couple. Love her wedding dress and embellishments in her hair. The groom is handsome too. Oh good luck to them. That ladies dress and heels were fab. Thanks for sharing.
