What is so captivating about style from the 1960s?

This transitional period between poodle skirts and bell bottoms was one in which hemlines started to rise and mini skirts and dresses became more popular.

This era became the inspiration for quirkily cute actress Zooey Deschanel in her 16 piece capsule collection for Tommy Hilfiger. I love her voice (her Christmas album is one of my favorite Christmas albums!) and of course she was in one of my favorite holiday movies “Elf”. I never thought of her as a designer, but can definitely see her modern take on these 1960s styles. Think of longer sleeves, pleated details, and flirtatious skirts.

I can’t wait until the collection comes out and will post about it in more detail then! Fourteen of the pieces will be at Macy’s on April 14th and the entire collection will be at Tommy Hilfiger on April 21st.

I am a big ZD fan, but am curious how much of the designing she actually did or if she is more the muse for it. Will be interesting to see the collection in all its glory once released!

Tanvi, so true – I also love the styles and am curious to hear if she designed or was the muse for the collection. Either way, I’d wear these Zooey Deschanel designs!
