Are you close to your family?
I haven’t always been close to my family. But I think age and the appreciation of having a caring family have made me appreciate them more over the years and made us closer. I certainly speak to my parents more these days since I live abroad. I also feel the distance more distinctly since we live in different countries. I am thankful that my parents are here now in my little one’s early days. The first few weeks are especially challenging and their help has been instrumental in keeping me sane.
I am also appreciative of the family we have made in our new country. Our friends have been amazingly generous with us and have given us wonderful gifts including sushi, homemade beef stew, spicy Thai takeout, and of course baby clothing. Our family members consist not only of those who are related to us by blood, but those we are linked to via love and mutual support. Keep your family close friends!
