Decor Thoughts: Opulence at Mary Kate Olsen’s NYC home

July 23, 2014

Mary Kate’s NYC townhouse is the epitome of abundant elegance.  it was featured on Curbed and Wall Street Journal and features a double height grand ballroom, garden room, seven fireplaces, and 22-foot high decorative wood ceilings.  Its original owner, Charlotte Martin, bought about 20 homes in the east side of midtown Manhattan in 1919, remodeled them, and renamed the area Turtle Bay.  Now its the home to former child star and fashion designer Mary Kate Olsen.

I can certainly appreciate the original and unique details.  Any home that combines a rooftop pool with early 20th century original wood ceilings is certainly one of a kind!  Oh and I’ll take a hall of mirrors and a garden room please!

This is certainly a grand and stately manor. The Olsen twins have really done well for themselves.

Wow! Very New York style : lovely, interesting, cultural, etc… would definitely enjoy visiting. Certain Mary-Kate would enjoy it and not surprised the home is so elegant. A garden room will be very enjoyable; I”ve got a backyard Midwest garden and enjoy the projects and seeing the plants gloom. thanks for e-sharing info.
