Happy Fun, Free Friday lovelies!

Fun Finds

Often, we can only think of certain items within certain environments.  For example, swing sets belong in playgrounds and gilded mirrors and crown molding belong in an older building.  It is always fun to find a whimsical take on design that joins distinct elements.  Philippe Malouin installed a set of swings inside Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan and my, people look like they’re having fun! The settings is stunning and completely unexpected.  I would love to swing in the Palazzo while admiring the architecture, intricate designs on the ceiling, and natural materials.  Ahh it’s too bad this installation isn’t permanent!

Otherwise this weekend I am…

…going to the newly opened Natural History Museum.  My husband is always excited about seeing dinosaur fossils. Trips to a natural history museum always remind me of how much I loved looking at geodes and gorgeous natural gems.  I also like the chance to remind myself of all those facts I forgot in biology class (e.g. did you know that one of the defining characteristics of plants is that they can produce their own food?)  We will also see a friend for tea and just generally try to get out and explore a little more.  We are so much more comfortable bringing out our little one now so it’s nice to be able to do more with her.

What are you doing this weekend?

Have a fabulous weekend!

Ok, this has got to be the greatest installation EVER. I mean EVER. And how has this not been done before?! Gosh can you imagine actually being there swinging about under some of the most intricate and delicate murals in the world? In such an opulent place. Imagine the sensory overload and pure bliss! Swoon!

Sonia, agreed! I really, really wish that these swings were permanently part of the palazzo! Imagine what a wonderful experience it would be to visit Milan and swing under these gorgeous murals and view the architecture! le sigh…
