“You don’t learn from successes; you don’t learn from awards; you don’t learn from celebrity; you only learn from wounds and scars and mistakes and failures. And that’s the truth.”
W Magazine June July 2015
What was the last mistake you made?
What was the last lesson you learned?
When did you last fail at something?
I have made plenty of mistakes in my time. I’ve screwed up the way I acted and reacted with loved ones. I’ve let my emotions rule over me and cause me to react when I should have stopped to think and consider the best course of action. Unfortunately, this is a mistake that I have made more than once. But I do make fewer of the same mistakes. It can be difficult because I simply have a fiery and stubborn personality. I have to say it has softened a bit over the years though. I’ve slowly learned that there is little value in reacting. I don’t have to vent to others if I’ve had a bad day. So many things in the world simply don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. Why should I let them bother me?
So I suppose Jane is right. We learn the most from our own mistakes and failures. Hopefully we understand why they are mistakes and failures and better ourselves as a result.
p.s. How amazing does Jane Fonda look? Can you believe that she’s 77 years old?!
Have a lovely week!
