Interestingly enough, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a few actresses and influencers lately.  These ladies have ranged from red carpet hosts to beauty and lifestyle creators.  It is so interesting to see someone after following them on Instagram!  Some people live up to their images and others are quite tiny in person! It is even more cool to meet someone and find out after the fact that she is actually a celebrity!  She may appear so chill in person that it’s hard to see her in another, more glamorous light.

When I saw this editorial of Maja Salamon for Harper’s Bazaar UK October 2016, I also thought of someone living a glamorous lifestyle.  Yet I thought this quote was interesting as well.  Someone may appear beautiful and create a wonderful image for herself or her brand.  But, is she really that person in real life?  I’ve met influencers and actresses who really are warm, fun and inviting.  They are as glad to meet you as you are to meet them.  I’ve also met one or two on the other end of the spectrum.  They list themselves as “public figures” and are quite aloof and hard to speak to in person.  It’s as if they are even doing you a favor by gracing you with their presence!  At that point, all perceptions of beauty are shattered.

You may post beautiful pictures of a beautiful life, but must remember to cultivate that internal beauty too! That’s what will last and show through.

Have you had similar experiences?

Have a lovely week!

Inner beauty is the best beauty! Personally, Professionally and on the blog I have met both nice and not very nice people. Some people that I thought were nice, weren’t. There was a blogger I thought the world of and I found out she wasn’t a friend. I unfriended her (never told her anything) and she went to social media & wrote all kinds of ugly things about me. But get this… After writing such things, she turned around and posted a Kat Von D Beauty book & pair of shoes I gave her on Instagram (but didn’t tell others I gave them to her). But labels me as a bad person (a wolf in sheeps clothing…Really? HAHAHAHA) for deleting her. That and several other things she’s done is exactly why I deleted her! And people think she’s so nice! Years ago, a blogger/handbag maker Knew what I experienced during hurricane katrina. She wrote me, saying Kim I’m so sorry you went through that. I want to give you One of my nail polishes but you’ll have to do a post on it. I deleted her. I thought what she said was so insincere. She made me feel that all she wanted to do was promote her business! Another blogger, sent me some things and we became friends on FB. I wrote her about some things I went through and I didn’t hear from her for 3 mos. LOL Yet she was active on ALL social media. So she must’ve thought I forgot about what I wrote months ago, and decided to write me. I reminded her that she never bothered to respond and told her she wasn’t a friend. Deleted her. I can go on! A blogger hadn’t commented on my blog in weeks, yet she commented on everyone else’s blogI So I just figured, she’s not interested in my blog anymore. Nothing to it. So I deleted her. I didn’t think anything of it! People change interests. She writes on twitter I’m deleting blog buddies, to make it look like I have followers and that is not SWEET at all. LOL I just shook my head. She’s a blog buddy? When I had her as an actual friend on my FB page she never wrote or said anything. She stops patronizing my blog and got mad when i deleted her. I have less followers than so many people. I can’t believe she said that. I support so many, that have WAY MORE FOLLOWERS THAN MYSELF. I’m only here to blog to let others know about products, whats good, what’s not and do giveaways. I delete people like this. People feel they can treat you any kind of way and I do not put up with it. Bottom line, People really have to be cautious. The person shown on social media, definitely may not be the person you think they are. I could write a book of examples on this. That’s why I don’t get close to people. I’ve been hurt too many times.

Kim, I’m sorry you had to meet so many examples of people that aren’t quit so beautiful inside! It is really unfortunate though that these people have been so malicious in their treatment of you! You really are like your blog namesake and one of the most kind and generous people! We’ve only virtually met too! I do hope you know that even though there are some ill-mannered people, there are a lot of people that think you not only have an awesome blog, but are an awesome person too!

This was a really interesting read and I’m glad that you got the opportunity to meet these poeple and had great experience with them. I guess that’s my biggest worry, to meet a blogger or an actor whom I really like and to discover that they are a prick in real life.
