Kenzo x H&M – Why it’s Worth a Look

October 26, 2016

Get ready for an assault on your senses because Kenzo x H&M is launching November 3rd.  Once again, a famed Parisian based luxury brand creates a collection for a favorite fashion fashion retailer.  The difference though is that Kenzo is known for its boldly assertive colors, prints, and textures.  Kenzo doesn’t evoke the same opulence and glitz as the Lanvin or Balmain collections.  But the bolder among us can definitely rock these unique patterns.  Many of these pieces are also reversible, as they are in Kenzo’s runway pieces.  Carol Lim and Humberto Leon of Kenzo wanted to create collector’s pieces that would reach many more people.

I’m kinda intrigued even though pieces are brighter than my usual clothing. Another unexpected part of this collection are the models in the campaign. The diverse cast of famous faces include Rosario Dawson and Chance the rapper. But this roundup also includes “icons in their fields” like artist and DJ Juliana Huxtable, activist writer Amy Sall, photographer Youngjun Koo as well. Expect to see ribbon dresses, neon faux fur and kimonos recreated in modern shapes honoring Kenzo’s archives.  As a result, these pieces are quite unlike anything I’ve seen before.  There is an undeniable energy and sense of youth in this collaboration. While most of the pieces are colorful and bright, there are jewels in the collection like the blue mesh print which is unexpectedly elegant. The bold prints are really fabulous for kid’s clothing and definitely hope to score a few things for my little one.

This is true Kenzo! What a fabulous collaboration! I’m with you. The prints are a little bold for my aesthetic. But for some reason I’m attracted to that black & red/Orange tiger body suit (2 piece with the black/pink coat) HaHaHa

Ooh the body suits are pretty gorgeous! Yes, the prints are so much flashier than I prefer, but I love the blue mesh type print!

While I would consider my style a bit bold, these looks are bold times ten, i love it. :]

I know many will be fighting to score a piece of this collection but frankly it’s waayyyy too out there for my liking. Now if Victoria Beckham collab with H&M, I’ll be queuing up at midnight in front of the store for it.

Victoria Beckham is doing a Target collection though! You should make a convenient trip down South that time!

Gosh, now I really wish target never left Canada. 🙁

I don’t usually get excited about these type of collaborations, but with Kenzo (H&M) and Victoria Beckham (target) I am very excited about both. This Kenzo collab seems like it’s unique and stays true to their brand DNA. Happy weekend. x/Madison

Madison, that’s what I thought too! Kenzo’s designs for H&M are very true to its brand. I seriously can NOT WAIT for Victoria Beckham though!

None of this fits my personal style; but there’s something about those prints that makes me do a double-take – love them!
