“I try to build a full personality for each of our cartoon characters – to make them personalities.” Walt Disney

Who are your favorite cartoon characters? I loved everyone from “My Little Pony” to
“Transformers” and “Duck Tales” when I was a kid.  I was drawn to the colorful and fantastical cartoons.  I wanted to see characters as they embarked on their adventures searching for treasures or fighting evil forces of doom.  I’m seeing more cartoons in my future as the little one gets older and we allow her to watch more than just “Sesame Street”!

So I was fascinated when I saw this editorial of Klaudia Chajduga in Harper’s BAZAAR Kazakhstan, November 2016 with Pokexfashion art.  It combines fashion with the summer’s popular Pokemon characters.  While I didn’t play Pokemon at all (err I’d rather just explore without looking at my phone), I thought it was interesting to see them highlighted in a fashion editorial.  While it’s harder to see the personalities of these characters, I started thinking about the personalities of other characters like Dory, Sully and Elsa from a few favorite cartoons.  Cartoons aren’t just for kids anymore. The characters often have distinct personalities and we can find ourselves relating to them in some way.  I’m also glad that the characters are more nuanced and princesses don’t solely rely on princes anymore.  Cartoons can be inspiring in their own way too!

Have a lovely week!
