What patterns do you favor? I’m pretty basic and prefer stripes, color blocks, and florals. But one of my favorite casual dress has a retro butterfly print so I’m also willing to go outside my comfort zone. I was smitten when I saw Dakota Johnson for US Vogue February 2017.  Each of her outfits has a different style.  But they all share a fun, modern twist on traditional prints. Checks are mixed with polka dots, stripes are diagonal, and color blocks are both bold and mixed with texture.

It made me really appreciate and be willing to experiment with more prints and patterns. I used to be more traditional in my thinking.  I thought I would be married by a certain age, work in a certain type of job for decades, and live in a house on the outer edges of New York.  Yet, I’ve tried out different careers, gotten married to a guy that was unlike my previous boyfriends, and lived in four countries in the last eight years. I’m a planner (by profession too!), but have learned to let go. Sometimes, life is unexpected and can’t be dictated.  In the meantime, I’ll enjoy the ride.

Have a lovely week!

I too love stripes. I think that woukd have to be my fave print type piece. But i dont descriminate. If theres a nice colour combination im likely to be drawn to it. One thing i dont like to see in prints is butterflies. I used to be obsessed with them as a teen so when i see them, i think of tragic teen days hahahaha

I love that first outfit she is wearing. Very top picture. I’m very classic, so I don’t warm up to prints very often. HaHaHa But I love anyone that can pull them off. Yes, sometimes we must go with what we don’t see for ourselves.
