The Met Gala 2017 honored famed Japanese designer Rei Kawakuno, founder of the avant garde label – Comme des Garçons and was entitled “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between,”. Her creations are the definition of avant garde – experimental, edgy, and definitely interesting. The Met Gala or Oscars of the East Coast are always an interesting red carpet to watch. This year’s theme promised to be even edgier than previous years. While I’m a fan of more traditional, glamorous gowns, I am still able to appreciate some of the more unique gowns as well. Here are some of my favorite looks from the night.
Kudos to H&M for creating a dress with such a romantic vibe! Cassie and Diddy made quite a pair and I was pretty impressed with his tuxedo. Rita Ora’s Marchesa gown was unexpectedly edgy, but pretty as well. I think I’d wear Tracee Ellis Ross’ Comme des Garçons dress!

One of the standouts was the feathered train on Blake Lively’s Atelier Versace dress – love the pop of color. I also loved the side train on Emmy Rossum’s Carolina Herrera gown. Finally, Priyanka Chopra’s Ralph Lauren trench coat gown was certainly unexpected and interesting!

Kate Hudson and Naomi Watts both wore light, but distinct Stella McCartney looks. I love the simple shapes and beautiful fit of both gowns. Naomi Campbell is timelessly gorgeous in this Edward Enninful creation – it’ll be interesting to see his work as Vogue UK’s Editor!

“I like a very simple, natural style. I like to come under the radar and be cool about my look, very classic and stylish.”
What is your style? Do you prefer neutral colors or would you prefer jewel toned hues? Would you prefer to wear classic pieces or do you sport the latest trends? I was intrigued by Victoria Beckham for UK Elle May 2017 because her outfits are so strikingly simple. She has definitely favored a more refined, classic style in the last few years. She banished mini-skirts and body con dresses and started wearing fitted, longer silhouettes.
Similarly, I have gravitated towards some of the simple pieces in my closet. I love long, draped white tops with maxi skirts or simple skirts. I also love black leggings and simple solid colored tops. While I don’t dress like this all the time, I can appreciate the classic and simple aesthetic. Even though I love ruffles, florals, and stripes, I also love the minimalist look of a black and white outfit. It’s a reminder that a classic and stylish outfit doesn’t have to be a complicated one.
Have a lovely week!

Yikes, have 3 months really passed by already? It seems like this year has rushed by so quickly so far! We were in California and New York for a few weeks so that was a great highlight of our first quarter. We went from a frigid winter storm to the cool, but manageable climates of the Bay area. I’m certainly thinking of floral prints and lighter clothing. I highlighted a few favorite pieces from the Victoria Beckham x Target collection and am really hoping to get this calla lily drop waist dress. It’s also my daughter’s birthday and I’m excited to have picked up a few vintage tiered stands. However, that has only whet my appetite to find more stands! I have a thing for trays, cake stands, and tiered cake stands. I’ll still be looking for a few great options!
What is on your wish list this month?
1. Black calla lily ruffle hem dress, Target, $35
What a delicate and gorgeous dress!
I adore marble accents and the gold works beautifully against the marble.
3. Two-Tier Gold Leaf Serving Stand & Plate Set by Godinger, Off Fifth, $124.99 (from $150)
The gold vine embellishments make this next level chic!
4. Patchology Illuminate Lace Printed Edition FlashMasques/4 Facial Sheets, Saks Fifth Avenue, $30
I tried to order these masques, but they were out of stock. Aren’t they gorgeous and gotta love a mask with brightening and hydrating powers!
5. Honest Beauty Truly Kissable crayon, $18, Dermstore
I’ve been meaning to get more sustainable and natural beauty which also works! I’d love to try this out!

I’m a hat lover, no doubt. They are among my favorite accessories and I love to wear a colorful or straw hat during the warmer months. My hats are usually more casual. But I adore elaborate hats. Philip Treacy is a famous Irish milliner and designer based in London. There are quite a few famous Philip Treacy hats. He designed Lady Gaga’s famous telephone hat as well as Sarah Jessica Parker’s famous Met Ball headpiece. We can regularly spot his creations on the British Royal family as well as celebrities from Victoria Beckham to Beyonce.
I wanted to highlight a few of his hats because it’s spring! These hats are truly works of art and an inspiration to add a statement piece to our outfits!
