Photo Love {Inspiration}: Behind the mask and Halloween Wishes

October 31, 2011
Although I know it’s unfair, I reveal myself one mask at a time.

Happy Halloween to my friends that celebrate this holiday! Β While this is a work day (and no I don’t work in an ultra hip/fun office where people dress up), it is amusing to think of fun costumes. Β Do you think that people put on costumes to be who they want to be or is it an expression of something else in the name of fun? Β Perhaps our choice in costume reveals just a small piece of us each time. Β One year, I may want to be glamorous and wear a Venetian mask with a long gown. Β The next year I may want to pay homage to a favorite character or celebrity (Wonder Woman never gets old right?)

Either way, we can only display one look at a time. Β I do find that it mirrors real life. Β Different people may see different sides of me, but only those that are very close to me see me with and behind all my masks. Β Those are of course the people I hold most dear because only they can see the real me.

What masks do you wear?

Have a lovely week!

Gorgeous images. I agree, we do put on masks at times and allow people to see what we want. Sometimes to protect ourselves. My daughter is Wonder Woman for Halloween this year, hehe. She loves her, but next year she wants to be the girl from The Corpse Bride, haha!! A lot more to do with that one!! Hope you have a wonderful day & week!! xx

Great post, and beautiful images. I love the Venetian look, and that second necklace (or is it a dress detail?) is to die for. No costume for me this year, but I’m hoping it will be a fun day nonetheless!

    so very beautiful.

Halloween is probably the best excuse to actually wear a mask openly. I think most don’t really put much thought into whether they’re trying to portray someone they want to be. If so, I’m sure I wouldn’t have seen 12 different Black Swans at my office Halloween party!

That second photo is so beautiful! I don’t work in an office anymore, but when I did I worked in a wonderful one where we would all pick a theme for costumes and come to work dressed to fit the theme. My last Halloween there it was mythical creatures, and I was an elf πŸ™‚

Great post! I try to stay true to myself, but definitely put on different “masks” bringing out certain qualities in different situations.

  • Bonnie October 31, 2011 at 21:56

I love the mask! I have never actually worn a mask like this for Halloween, but it is really pretty and chic.
