Decor thoughts: Palomas – unexpected doves in decor

March 7, 2013

Palomas or doves seems to be everywhere now in home decor and serving ware as bird prints adorned many fashion pieces last year.

They are traditionally seen as symbols of love and peace and of course they are so elegant, unlike their dirtier cousins that inhabit the many rooftops and bridges of NYC.  I have seen doves released in weddings from Manila to Maui and always wondered – where do those doves go now?

Perhaps that is why artisans like to capture images of doves in decor so they can hold onto that image of peace and love.  Here are a few paloma pieces that catch my eye now.  While some come with luxurious touches, like 24k gold plated birds, there are a few ways to display Paloma touches without the luxurious price tag (that and I feel like objects like the decanter could be slated for further markdowns).

I am a huge fan of bird decor – I’ve completely jumped onto that bandwagon! The salt and pepper containers are great, and would make a perfect addition to my Easter table this year.

I’ve always been a big bird fan. There’s something sweet and innocent about birds print or decor.

I love doves because they are white and looks so dainty
and they are a symbol of peace… so if they would invade my home
in the form of these luxe items then they are so welcome.
Love the salt and pepper and the salad bowls.

I am a fan of birds in decor – I have a bird lamp, ring dish, and S+P – but I think they are all sparrows.

I’ve had a miniature crush on doves in clothes and jewellery and to see them in decor now is so great! The salt and pepper shakers are too cute.
