CnC Living Recommends/{Restaurant Review}: Ladurée Champs Elysées

When can you eat macarons?

I could eat them for: breakfast, lunch, after lunch snack, dinner, midnight snack.

Yep, I think I just about covered every meal because I could have those delectable goodies any time (I liked them so much I did a taste test of the best macarons in Paris here).  So I thought why not have a meal at the famed Ladurée on Champs Elysées?  I dragged a few friends for breakfast there one morning and had a wonderful time.

A few facts:

  • Ladurée has online reservations which make it very easy to have a meal there
  • The Champs Elysées branch has beautiful decor, as well as a great view of the Champs Elysées (gotta love people watching)
  • The lunch and brunch menus have options for ordering macarons with the meal, but if you dine here for breakfast, you can just take a seat and then wander to the counter when you have time (I think they can still be ordered from your table, but I loved looking at everything).

This fruit salad was amazing!

The salons downstairs has a lovely street view, but the salons upstairs have a more intimate feel.  The decor is dainty, ornate, and undeniably French.  I shared the breakfast set with my husband.  The eggs (I tried the poached which are really hard boiled as well as the scrambled) are average, but the bread basket was pretty divine.  Our carb shunning diet took a back burner as we enjoyed chocolate crossaints, cinnamon rolls, and other breads. The highlights here are definitely the decor and pastries. I’ll try more savory options another time and post an update then!

Macaroons are the best thing ever, gosh now I’m craving them! I had them for the first time when I traveled to Belgium. Absolutely one of the best moments of my life. I could definitely eat them for every meal – who wouldn’t agree with that?

Miranda, if you’re ever in a bakery that makes GOOD macarons, I hope you can try them! They are quite light and tasty!

  • Johanna October 25, 2013 at 11:01

You had me at the title…and then I just kept drooling.

  • Rowena October 25, 2013 at 12:03

I didn’t make it to Laduree on my last visit to Paris but it will be a must the next time I go. Can’t wait for the NYC cafe to open!

That was definitely a great place for people watching. I also like the place across from the Eiffel Tower–the name escapes me. Anyhoo, I’m actually not that into macarons. Only the ones that aren’t really macarons…and in coconut flavor.
