FFF – Jardin d’Acclimatation and time with friends

May 18, 2018

Happy Fun, Free Friday lovelies!

Jardin d’Acclimatation

I am frantically putting together a list of to-dos for Paris.  I know that I’ll only accomplish a few things on my list (ahem, don’t overplan when traveling with kids!)  Luckily, we are staying close to the Louvre and Palais Royal (striped columns!), but I hope to get to the Musee d’Orsay as well. Please let me know if you have any must see or eat suggestions!

One of our French friends actually suggested a lesser known attraction that would be especially great for kids – the Jardin d’Acclimatation. This site was opened by  Napoléon III and Empress Eugénie, as a zoo, but ahem, these animals were later captured during the siege of Paris.  It also became an anthropological site with actual people from Zulu tribesmen to Bushment.  Now, it’s less sensationalist and is a theme park with a science museum, art museum, pony rides, and is also located next to the Louis Vuitton foundation.  LVMH manages the site and just spent 60 million Euros renovating it!  The landscaping, architecture, and food will be revamped reopening last week so it may well be worth a visit!

Otherwise, this weekend I am…

…trying to schedule more non-kid centered activities. As I mentioned last week, a lot of our weekend activities revolve around the kids’ (older one really) activities. We’re attending two kids’ birthday parties.  I’m also getting ready for France and contemplating whether to get a mini session with a photographer there.  Hmm, would this be worth it to capture a few moments with the kids?

What are you up to this weekend?

Have a lovely weekend!

SO envious! Paris is one of our favorite cities. My husband might have to go there for business later this year and if he does I will definitely accompany him. We had some of the best Vietnamese food on our last visit at this place called Le Bistrot d’Indochine.

That looks like it would be a beautiful place to visit!

Oh I think it would totally be worth it to get a photograph to capture beautiful moments in one of the most beautiful cities with your kids. It’ll make for a wonderful memory. So great that you’ll go to the Jardin and that you’re staying so close to the Louvre. I’m attending a music and wine festival this weekend.
