“I used to think as I looked out on the Hollywood night, ‘There must be thousands of girls sitting alone like me dreaming of being a movie star.’ But I’m not going to worry about them. I’m dreaming the hardest. “

Marilyn Monroe

Have you been able to fulfill your dreams? I saw this editorial of Ellen Pompeo, Emma Roberts, Gina Rodriguez & Gabrielle Union for The Edit November 2018 and was also struck by this quote. For every Hollywood starlet, there are hundreds of actors that hadn’t gotten their big breaks. In recent years, I’ve also been looking for more exciting roles that are more fulfilling as well. I don’t necessarily yearn to be a CEO of the next Uber, but I’ve been wanting roles that were more interesting for me in a few functions.

Recently, I was up for a very interesting role at a new company. I thought it was practically a sure thing since I knew a major person at the company and other senior leadership I met loved me. But they let me know that it wasn’t the right role for me after a few months of anticipation. Of course I was disappointed. But I knew competition was tough and they let me know that the role was a bit junior as well. So the dreams at that company were dashed. Previously I would have been bummed out for a while. However, I could also understand the situation. I’m going to still keep dreaming and searching for that dream job. I can’t control what others do. But I can control my own actions and reactions. I’m already speaking to another company soon. I’ll definitely be dreaming the hardest and hopefully reach my own stars too.

Have a lovely week!
