What do you like to do during the summer? When I saw this editorial of Karlie Kloss for Vogue Paris May 2019, I instantly thought of long summer days and lazy hours spent at the beach. I’m also not quite sure what to call summer in Southeast Asia. I suppose this time of year is somewhat more like the Northern Hemisphere’s idea of summer in that there is less rain. But it’s always muggy and warm with long days so it certainly always feels like summer.
When I really have time to relax, I like to do a few things. I will try to take in more of the environment around me. I remember driving through the country side in France and stopping the car during a cool summer night. My friend and I actually took time to watch the stars and they were out in their magnificent full force. I will also throw myself into a good thriller – nothing that would win any prize, but would be thoroughly entertaining. There are certainly fewer moments that feel like summer as I get older and the responsibilities increase.
But I am trying to remember to hold onto this feeling of summer. I am giving myself permission to take an extra long walk. I want to be able to lay back and look in the stars and someday be able to do that with my kids. In the meantime, it is a good reminder to take it slow, do something silly, but fun, and enjoy the feelings of summer.

My post today is all about enjoying summer, too. I love the idea of spending time outside and looking at the stars (gotta get away from the big cities to do so). I also love summer movies. I actually just watched the new Halloween over the weekend. Just seemed perfect on a summer night. It’s probably why Stranger Things is out now instead of October.

I enjoy how laidback and carefree summer is compared to the other seasons. And as you know in NYC, there always seems to be even more going on. during the summers as well. I also like to spend more time outdoors. You should definitely venture downtown next time you’re in town when hopefully the little ones are well. The ferry is such a nice ride to Brooklyn and amazingly fast compared to the subway too.
