Josephine Le Tutour for Marie Claire France August 2019

“Words – so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them.”

Nathaniel Hawthorne

What words have stuck with you? I saw this editorial of Josephine Le Tutour for Marie Claire France August 2019 and thought of innocence and simplicity as well as the other side of it.

Our words can have such a great impact on others. I still remember words spoken by my mother 30 years ago when I thought our life would take a drastic change. In addition, I also remember what my husband said and how it made me feel during a heated argument many years ago. To this day, I regret being a “mean girl” commenting with a group of friends about a guy’s looks and how he couldn’t possibly get a girlfriend. We see how innocent lives are changed forever by bullying and simple words.

Words matter. We sometimes forget about it if we’re taking a joke or are having heated emotions. But I’m thinking about it much more now that I have kids. Our little ones mimic everything we say and do. They are sensitive and still grasping how to handle their emotions. I think a little more not only about my words, but my own reactions and intentions. We can not only think more about the words we speak, but how we can better connect and empathize with others too.

Have a lovely week!

I like how these images are not perfect, simple, natural-looking and lovely. Great hawthorne quote! <3
Yes, children are like sponges, they will absorb they're surroundings, so it's important to be cautious at times what we spurt out.

Yes words do have an impact and it is worse now in the digital age it is amazing how grown adults of both sexes can be mean girls and in particular when it is anonymous. Glad that you are aware now and lets hope things get better. And love this editorial.

Yes words matter but I value actions more.. It’s just too easy for people to say things without intention but it is only when they back it up with actions that they become truly MEANINGFUl.
