FFF – Fabric art by Bisa Butler

December 6, 2019

Happy Fun, Free, Friday lovelies!

I’m endlessly fascinated by art and its many mediums. I saw this fabric art by Bisa Butler and was also entranced by the subjects as well as emotions captured. Bisa Butler uses fiber art and African textile traditions to create such colorful and striking portraits. I’m fascinated by the eyes and how they range from strong and kind to haunting and sad. Here are a few favorite pieces:

“Detail of the Broom Jumpers”

To God and Truth

“I, Too”

“Zouave”

Otherwise, this weekend I am…

…enjoying some time at home with the family. We’ve been traveling quite a bit and then my husband flew out for work also so it’s been busy! I think I’ll start experimenting with healthier brownies or another Christmas treat. We have a few holiday parties coming up so I gotta make sure my dessert game is solid!

What are you up to this weekend?

Have a lovely weekend!

Wow these look incredible! You’re right! The eyes are so expressive. I need to look up this artist and see if there are any videos that document her creative process. I bet it would be fascinating!

What creative pieces! I like the textures and you’re right the faces are so expressive! 🙂

I stick to the safe basics and take cookies to christmas events, haha! My brownies can be a bit hit or miss sometimes, I’m not a good baker!
