Lights, camera, runway!
New York Fashion Week is in full swing for fall. Fall has always been one of my favorite seasons because it is the best of two seasons. It is full of bright, cool days that enable us to hold onto summer for just a little longer. But it is also a chance to play in the falling leaves, wear an extra layer or warm accessory, and transition to darker colors. While there were thicker fabrics and fur lined collars in sight, I really liked that each designer highlighted a bold stroke of color as well – red for DVF and Prabal Gurung and cobalt blue for Victoria Beckham. Each of these designers had looks that were also perfect for a formal night out on the town. Perhaps fall signifies a time of celebration as well?
Here are a few favorites from:
The mood signified strength both in the slim silhouettes and prints (inspiration came from Ukraine’s Asgarda tribe or modern day Amazons). Peplums are created in the most beautiful ways!
Styling consisted of tightly pulled back hair (no muss, no fuss) and minimal makeup paired with fierce black boots tipped in gold.
I’d wear the look to a cocktail party with good friends.
Diane Von Furstenberg
The mood was confidence, color, and print (typical DVF in a great way!)
Styling consisted of hot pink lips combined with large, loose hair – grown up versions of our girlish sides.
I’d wear the look to a girl’s night out!
The mood was loose structure (bold, but not confining shapes) done up in dark and rich colors.
Styling consisted of better than natural makeup combined with refined messy hair (perhaps the put together woman isn’t perfect?) and simple booties.
I’d wear the look to give myself an extra boost of confidence during an important meeting.
