What are your favorite beauty brands at the drugstore?
I’ve struggled to answer that question for a long time myself. There are good skin care cosmetics items at every price range, but I wasn’t sure what products actually worked. To be honest, I was also wary of some brands because I wasn’t sure if their low prices reflected their quality as well.
That is why it is always great to read about new products through blog friends and reviews. I was lucky enough to win both of these NYX items from blog buddy Elle and it is also my first time using NYX cosmetics. I was especially intrigued by the eye shadow base and was pleasantly surprised by the results. The base is a semi-creamy formula and goes on smoothly.
As you can see from the sample I did on my hand, the eye shadow base really intensified the eye shadow color on the right and may actually extend the wear of the eye shadows (even the drug store brands!) The eye shadow palette itself also provides a nice variety of neutral shades that work perfectly for a smokey eye as well as an everyday look. I am pleasantly surprised by the wear and intensity of these two products – I guess you never know how good a brand is until you try it for yourself right?

i like the nyx bases–i have the “skin tone” one too. the white really helps with bright colors and on darker skin. nyx shadows are hit and miss. some are really pigmented, and some are a little chalky for me.

I’ve never tried NYX eyeshadows before (i don’t wear much eyeshadow), but their nail polish is pretty cool. The shade on your eyes looks great all over and would also be a good accent color. I agree with the pigmentation. You would probably have to reapply the NYX brand often in comparison to pricier brands. Great review!
I tend to keep things neutral with my make up, so this looks like a great pallet – and so affordable!
