I always love art that is interesting and atypical. These pictures are no different and are the first examples I’ve seen of art created by flower petals! Malaysian artist Hong Yi has designed some beautiful bird portraits using flower petals of different sizes and colors. Here are a few favorite pieces:
Otherwise this weekend I am…
…doing a series of things to celebrate my husband’s birthday. He’s the kind of person that reallllly likes to stretch out his birthday, though he won’t ever willingly admit to wanting a party. I’m taking him out to a nice Italian dinner on Saturday (the chef had a Michelin star at his former restaurant so that should be pretty cool!) We are having, gulp, about 30 people over for a Mexican/Argentinian style cookout on Sunday. Sigh, I think we need to start to throwing smaller parties. But sometimes, there is a point where there are so many people that it doesn’t matter if more people show up right? I’m going to try this marinade for the flank steak and hope that it turns out well! There will be guacamole, chimichurri, and pico de gallo as well of course. Is it time to start prepping yet?

flower petals! what a unique medium. and of course the photos are equally as important as the actual pieces, since in a few days the petals will be brown and shriveled and the art will be gone.
