Fashion Highlight: Gucci Fall 2014 RTW

Gucci is known for its luxurious and sensual silhouettes in bold colors.

I remember its oversized ruffled dresses adorning magazine covers and starlets last season.  It just continued a theme of assertive colors and shapes.

So I was really intrigued by the most recent Gucci collection shown at Milan Fashion Week.  Frida Giannini undoubtedly had inspiration from the 1960s with dropped waists, embellished mini dresses, and sleek double breasted coats.  But the colors themselves were also more subtle and muted.  Shades of blush, mint, blue, and yellow filled the runway, but in more neutral shades.  I was especially fascinated because the collection seemed more casual.  Can something luxurious be casual as well?  The use of sequin, sharp shapes, and touches of leather definitely indicate that this is possible.

Here are a few favorites from the collection (I am completely in love with the wool coats – so swinging and cool!):

Luckily there are also affordable alternatives for those of us who may want a piece with Gucci styling, but at a less heave inducing price.

Doesn’t this coat have the coolest sleeves?

Adore those mod coats, how awesome are those!?! I also like the fur ones as long as they weren’t real fur. Very pretty. Have a gorgeous day doll xx

I LOVE the wool coats as well… don’t you wish that there was a place for them in your wardrobe here in Singapore?!

I was swooning over the delicious pastels and retro styling. The eyewear was just fab!

It was in the 40’s today which was quite welcome considering how cold it’s been. Thanks for asking about my health. The vertigo is under control but I slipped on the ice the other week and re-injured my ankle boo. I’m so over this winter and the snow. You must be so glad to be in a warmer climate 🙂

Rowena, oh no, take care of your ankle! I think it’s getting cold again next week so please stay safe! I am actually glad I stayed away most of the winter (there was already some snow when I visited in December). This really is one of the worst winters on record!
