Julia van Os for Vogue Arabia March 2019

April 15, 2019

“I travel light. I think the most important thing is to be in a good mood and enjoy life, wherever you are.”

Diane von Furstenberg

Where will you be traveling this year? I saw this editorial of Julia van Os for Vogue Arabia March 2019 and thought about the different types of travel one can take – beach, hiking, scuba diving, safari – are just a few that pop to mind. I was and still am the type of person who likes to be active on vacation. Let’s go check out some native crafts! This is a great diving spot! Let’s sign up for a cooking class! I’m also more adventurous than my husband and would venture in the cold to see the Northern Lights as well as see animals in the wild.

But my husband is much more of a low key traveler. He wouldn’t mind seeing a few sites, but wants to take it slow. He loves a vacation with a more mellow pace where he can actually just sit back and enjoy his environment. Of course we’ve adapted to each other over the years. I’ve gone on more than a few beach vacations at this point (admittedly beach resorts are also fabulous for kids). He’s also been dragged around from city to city on a single trip. But the most important thing is that we each go into a trip with an open mind and appreciation for the trip. It’s a wonderful thing to spend time with loved ones, wherever you are and regardless of the destination. So I’m approaching travel a bit differently now – the company and the experience are such an important part of the trip as well. Enjoy life, wherever you are.

Have a lovely week.

I love this editorial. It feels so vintage but divine. I love to pack as much in as I can when I travel. At the same time rushing around to do and see as much as possible means I don’t get to fully experience each site. I also have a problem with trying to capture every moment which leads to not being very present. In light of todays sad events with Notre Dame, I started remembering when I visited over 10 years ago and I had so many memories because it was a time before social media was at its peek. The last few travels I’ve done I don’t have nearly as many memories as I did from past travels which is sad. But it’s something I definitely want to work on and improve on

We’re currently trying to decide on our vacation destinations. We couldn’t really do much last year due to something going on in our residence so we want to make up for that by going on a few vacations. Miami in January was such a nice break from the cold weather.

It’s great you have a travel routine that works for you both! Hubby and I are both homebodies, we don’t travel very much at all! It’s something I’d love to do more, maybe when the kids are older.

These outfits are beautiful, such luxe fabrics! I was sure the second outfit was my favourite but the more I scrolled the more I loved. Such a great editorial!

Hope that your week is going well 🙂
