FFF – Black artists on Instagram

July 3, 2020

Happy Fun, Free, Friday lovelies!

I’m always happy to discover new artists and designers. Also I gotta give it to anyone that makes a living through their art – it’s a tough gig! But I also want to continue sharing I wanted to share a few Instagram accounts I’ve found recently that feature works that are truly lovely. I like scrolling through gallery or collective type accounts since they showcase different artists and you can easily discover new accounts.

Black Girls Illustrate celebrate a diverse range of portraits of black women. I really like the range of pictures from whimsical to powerful to sensual.

Danielle Coke or Oh Happy Dani transforms powerful messages into easy to view, almost whimsical infographics. Her format makes it so much easier to clearly see issues. Courtney Ahn creates similar poignant messages.

The Onyx Art Collective highlights budding black artists that practice using a variety of mediums. I like the mixed media pieces and photographs particularly well.

Otherwise, this weekend I am…

…doing one of a few mini celebrations for my youngest! We are allowed 5 visitors at a time and just starting to see others now. It’s exhausting planning a few parties, but I know it will be fun too. My kids do understand the new realities with COVID-19 but we will attempt to maintain a sense of normalcy while being safe (kids this weekend are classmates!) Now onto menu planning and a tarte tatin for tomorrow!

Have a lovely weekend!
