Artisan Highlight: Christian Louboutin in his Paris home as featured on the Selby

January 17, 2013

Does your heart flutter at the sight of a pair of red soled shoes?

I’m not a shoe gal (handbags really make my heart and wallet swoon) and wondered if those crimson soled shoes were worth it.  But I have to admit that there is something sensual and elegant about the little peek of red.  I have also heard of a few more comfortable styles (the simple tops the list) so I may just have to invest in a pair or two.

I also find the man behind the brand intriguing, quirky, and completely in love with his work.  I saw his interview on the Selby here and was fascinated by his passion for shoes (he sketched his first pair at 12 years old!) and his beautiful Parisian home.  He obviously has a love for design, luxury, and beauty.  Isn’t that something all of us would want? Oh and what a wonder to be able to create such beauty every day!

Here are a few favorite pictures from the shoot and the interview:

I’m probably more of a handbag girl too, but my heart still does a flutter for some red soles 🙂

Christian Louboutin’s shoes are absolutely amazing. I am in love with the first pair you posted. I don’t own any myself , but March (and my bonus season) are around the corner. I’m determined to get a pair this year. I read an article about CL in The New Yorker awhile back. I love how quirky and passionate he is about his work.

Kim, I can’t wait to see your pair of splurge shoes! Your Valentino shoes are still some of my favorite shoes!

I loved reading this interview, its the first time I am hearing of it, I also wonder if the price attached to a pair is worth it…maybe if wearing it felt like a walking on air, just maybe…

    • Chic 'n Cheap Living January 17, 2013 at 21:38

Unfortunately, I don’t think it is like walking on air but I do hear a few of the styles are more comfortable. Women just pair for the red heel and the luxurious touches!

The red soles get me EVERY SINGLE TIME. So sexy.

    • Chic 'n Cheap Living January 17, 2013 at 21:37

Seriously, is there a more sexy sole? I’ll probably make the splurge some day!

Christian Louboutin is such a delight because he’s so passionate about shoes. His home looks amazing and I bet his atelier is even more so.

I’ve certainly never tried a pair on, but they are quite the status symbol, aren’t they?
If I could actually wear them, then maybe some day I’d consider investing in a pair.
