FFF – Met Open Access Artworks

April 10, 2020

Happy Fun, Free, Friday lovelies!

How has life at home been for you? It’s certainly not easy and especially crazy if you are confined with a few people in tight quarters. But what I am loving is discovering all the online resources I didn’t know previously existed. I’m not sure I can get home in the summer and love to take the kids to museums when we’re back. But it is awesome to discover that museums like the Met have entire collections online.

I’ll just list a few of the collections so you can peruse them at your own leisure.

Open Access Artworks – view over 400,000 hi-res images of public domain artworks you can save and share without worry.

Asian Art – see one of the most prolific options of Asian art in the west

MetKids – explore the museum through a child’s eyes

Otherwise, this weekend I am…

…recovering from the first week of homeschooling the little ones. Singapore’s schools had been open a while, but the recent uptick in positive COVID-19 cases has result has resulted in school closings and a soft lockdown here. We are still very fortunate that restaurants for delivery and parks aren’t completely closed (there are even websites to monitor capacity at the parks!) I’ve been overwhelmed with the sheer number of websites and ideas for the kids (and adults) and it took me a while to figure out a good list of online resources to maintain my sanity. I’ll definitely compile a list I think would be helpful. I do miss so many things though from ballet classes to casual lunches with friends. We have small bursts of time in the park, but their outdoor time is dramatically different. Can you believe that this is the world we live in now?

In other news, Happy Passover and Happy Easter to friends that celebrate the holidays!

Also, please bear with me as I find a developer to fix some of the weird bugs on my website!

What are you up to this weekend?

Have a lovely weekend!

Happy Friday! And, Thanks for these links. I’ve been watching the old MET operas but didn’t know there is something offered for art lovers. I will definitely check it out.

Have you thought about changing the blog theme instead of finding a developer? I like the clean aesthetics of your blog and don’t know how differently WordPress works but from my own experience, some themes just seem to work better in terms of errors and glitches.

Happy Easter to you and your family! 🙂

Happy Easter Lena! Yes, I actually do have a new blog theme that is somewhat similar, but haven’t installed it. I will make the time to finally do that and see if that eliminates some of these annoying bugs!

With the way things are in NYC right now, you might have to put any plans to come back this summer on hold. Thankfully our governor is proceeding but I can’t see anything reopening or going back to normal anytime soon especially if they can’t facilitate some sort of widespread testing system. I’m so grateful for all these online resources offered by museums and other cultural institutions right now.
